came home to this on my 1 year mark :) i love the missionaries here!!!

Hellooooo!!!!! This week I hit my 1 year mark on my mission! :)

1 year gift from momma williams

Here’s a story from this week that describes my feelings toward it: We were at this members house, and we had been there for a little while, and then we were getting ready to share a message, and scoot off to our next appointment. Right as my mouth opened to say, "Can we share a message? :)", With a twinkle in her eye, she brings out the largest piece of cornbread my eyes have ever beheld. It was approximately 4 inches high and 9 inches long in both dimensions. She was a sweet Liberian lady, and had made this cornbread to share her culture with us. She stared at us, waiting for our approval. My eyes widen, for we had just finished supper at the appointment before. I should have known she would try and feed us?!??? I start chowing down. The bread was impeccably thick and dense... I am sweating with every swallow. Remarkably, and with divine help, I finish. I look over at my companion, and her plate isn’t even half gone!!!!!! My mind races and I look at my watch--- our next appointment is in 5 MINUTES and we haven’t even shared the message!!!!! While the member is not looking my companion and I exchange helpless looks. We think we may have been defeated. With an unknown strength that possessed my body, I had the courage to take half her cornbread and put it on my plate. We collectively continue gnawing it down like savages. Sister Moffett's nose was clogged so she couldn’t breathe when she ate, so she was quite slow. Eventually, I could hardly lodge anything else into my trachea..... I become helpless and so I quickly smash the cornbread into my purse and the remaining pieces of evidence are gone. We smile as our plates were empty, and we could share a message now that our mouths were clear. :) THE REASON I share this is because in the scriptures we are often instructed to "feast upon the scriptures"! Over the past year, I have learned more about Jesus Christ than I ever thought! It’s been an amazing time to grow in my testimony and as a disciple of Christ.

Like the cornbread, sometime I have felt there is maybe TOO much to partake and learn of all at once, but with his help, he sees the potential for us to finish our service (and our servings!). As I have studied, taught, and endured….. I have been filled to the brim with gratitude and love! Like the cornbread… I have feasted upon the scriptures-- and really seen the good in the gospel!! Sometimes I fall short and have to try again later (like when I couldn’t finish…) But he loves us anyways! But by the end, we are filled with blessings, like Malachi said that God will: “pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” There was not room enough to receive God’s love, or all his delicious cornbread! Missions are rad.

Love you all.

Also. S/O to all my return missionary friends who sent scripture memes. Keep em’ comin.
