Our pet:

This week we got a pet! Like most pets, he came into our life unexpectedly. But let's just say, he felt at home here! We're not even supposed to have pets, but I think this is an exception! He wants to be with us every hour of the day-- he's tried our food, he came into our bed, he loves to lay on us, he even does studies with us! We became pretty close. Although sometimes he's annoying... we still love him. We named him Mark! He's the most charming house fly you'll ever meet.

But seriously SOS-- someone plz send a fly swatter. Regardless of our enduring efforts, we cannot terminate that sucker........

This week I received a letter from my beloved former companion, Sister Dewsnup, informing me that CARA AND MAX ARE ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My devoted blog readers will remember that Cara and Max were two of the converts that I helped teach before and after their baptism in my last area!!!!!!!

Upon reading this my heart swelled with joy-- because I can't tell you how many times we taught them on marriage and the blessings associated with it. Countless times I joked... "so you guys engaged yet??????" but I wasn't actually joking. AND NOW ITS HAPPENING. AHHHHHHHHH!!! And although I don't deserve an ounce of recognition for Cara and Max's engagement....... I'm taking all the credit. #MeinersMatchMaking

So we had this "re-trainers" meeting in Calgary on Friday. Basically, we drive 3 hours for a 2 hour meeting on how missionary life is going for the new missionaries! It's fun seeing old pals & such. BUT, the chapel it was held at is just 10 minutes from Cara's house--- mwahahahaa. So we went and surprised Cara!!!

Upon our arrival at her home we see Mikey, age 5, playing outside on their balcony that faces the street. Mikey sees me, stares with exceeding perplexity for 7 seconds, and then drops his toy and runs in the house chanting: "MOMMMMM!!!!! SISTER MEINERS IS BACK!!!! SISTER MEINERS IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

GAHHHH!!! And of course Cara freaked out, and their dogs freaked out, and it was just a happy reunion!!!! Cara told me that she hadn't announced to anyone yet until she knew that Sister Williams and I knew *gushing*!!! Before I left, she told me that one of the things Mikey prays for every night is that "Sister Meiners and Sister Williams will return." *crying*....I LOVE THAT FAMILY.

reunion w/ my fave family!!!!!!!

Another kinda fun story is that we have been working with a guy named Quinn who is less active. We have met with him consistently for a while, teaching him the discussions and such. Well this week there was a conflict and our normal time to meet wasn't going to work, and his friend that usually comes couldn't make it (and since he's a guy we need to find another girl to come), and so we thought, we'll just cancel it this week, because he probably wouldn't care anyways. And he gently replies, "I know you can't come, but could we do it over the phone?" Upon seeing his true intent and desire to come closer to the Savior, we found someone to come with us, and we went right over!

our investigator Alexis and her lil sister Miley :)) *notice how miley wants to be a missionary too and is grabbing sister follett's tag lolol*

These tender experience led me to ponder the good and lasting influence we have on people! Not just as missionaries, but in life, we are so easily touched by those who serve us, who help our families, and who just love others. I am grateful for this experience to be on a mission and have the chance to serve others just as the Savior would. It's only in those rare occasions that we are able to see how much our impact truly makes to someone. I could have gone my whole mission and thought that Cara and Max had forgotten all about me, or that our lessons with Quinn didn't even matter. But people will remember the times that we help them to become better and happier people. And that happiness truly only comes through Jesus Christ.
