Blame the bikes

Hiiiiiiiiiii 👋 Bike Probz: Ok so basically every hardship we have had this week was a direct result of the bikes. Usually its not even a big deal to bike. I was expecting the typical being late for appointments, being sore and getting shin splints, and then the obvious mortification that accompanies wearing a helmet with a dress....

But this week things went too far. I don't know if it's because I've been working on patience or what... But biking has been the bane of my existence. Last night it hailed... and we rigorously biked through storm puddles and rain as hail pelted us. Our skirts got heavy and got stuck in our bike chains. We asked some people for trash bags for protection from the storm.... I even crashed on my bike this week!!!!! Sister Follett challenged me to a race home, and as we were going I stood up to catch air on my bike over a bump in the road. Well, my bike doesn't have handle bar brakes.. you just back pedal. So as I went over the bump my foot flung back, bringing the bike to an abrupt stop, and I just went flying. I was just in the middle of the road bleeding, with 40 lbs of steel laying on me, as my companion just about peed her pants from laughing, a random pedestrian asks if I'm okay, and then of course, on que, of all people, the elders roll up behind us (in their nice air-conditioned car) and had witnessed the whole thing. At least I was wearing my helmet, eh?? Needless to say, we're exciting to get the car back!!!! :) But despite my unfortunate times on the bike...... It has been a great week!!!!!! Taber is really picking up, and once everyone gets back from Montana (the glorious vacation spot for Southern Albertans) we will be teaching some new families! There were multiple instances this week where I felt like a real Tabernite, because I knew everyone! People would say stuff like "you probably don't know him, but..." and then I would be able to spew out where he lives, his cousin Dale, his job occupation, and his ward calling in the other ward. Perks of living in a small town-- even though I've only been here 2 months, I feel like I have a connection to everyone! Last thought: I was reading in the scriptures and I found this scripture I just loved! "Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us." (Hebrews 12:1) I've been pondering patience a lot lately, because patience to me always seemed to be a passive waiting, and I hate just waiting around! But when I read this scripture, it made me think about how we can all be patient in our trials as we draw upon the enabling power of the Atonement. Patience is an attribute of Christ, not because he waited for things to get better... but because he showed he was patient by enduring faithfully, with a hopeful attitude! I love how Paul stated in that scripture that we can run with patience... to never stop, and to overcome our trials with the help of the Lord. Love, Sista Meiners :) Last week we went to a place called Writing on Stone for p-day, and I got some pics on the hoodoos. also attached: picking tomatoes w/ the sisters, & some trashy style, post-hailstorm.
