big things happening here!
last wednesday i hit my hump day cause I'm over half way done my mission! crazy.

sister williams' 9 month package--- with a camel inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES
i feel like i've been on my mission my whole life sometimes and other days i get confused and am like "ya l was in maryland like 2 months ago" even tho that's not true.....
anyways things here in lethbridge have been good! sister robison was pretty ill this week- and we found out shes actually lactose intolerant, and gluten intolerant! so that was pretty crazy.
Right now we're just trying to find more people to teach (as always). We had 5 potential investigator appointments and lets just say they were all strange. like reallly... really.. strange. we're not gonna continue teaching any of them.... but ya....
I'll humor you by telling you about Bruce.
We saw him on his balcony and we're like "hey you planting something?" (nice approach eh? lololol we're so awkward) and he's like "nah i'm just changing my cat liter." naturally we sparked a convo about kittens. then he's like "i've met with missionaries in the past" and so he invited us to come over in 2 days, because he loves learning about religions. we were pumped.
we come back and he greets us and is like "hey elder meiners and elder robison" and we're like wowza he even remembers our last names (just ya know, wrong title but close). We walk in and theres like a gigantic hookah bar set up and we're like uhhh, and hes like hope ya dont mind!!! lolol. next thing that catches my eye was 2 framed paintings on the wall, one of Jesus Christ, and one of Joseph Smith. We were like oh boy i am so confused right noq but lets just see how this goes.
and they were literally like nicest most polite people ever so it was so weird????? but i'm like,
"so. whats youre religious background?"
stay with me people. its about to get real complicated.
he was raised first baptist, and then apostacized. he's currently getting a religious studies degree in Islam, but has no desire to convert and become a Muslim. But he is currently attending Community of Christ (formerly known as RLDS, hence the Joseph Smith painting) but only goes for "social reasons." He identifies as a "sympathetic athiest" but doesn't not believe in diety-- so he's an "educated agnostic." he's also a psychology major-- and loves studying the philosophies of men. he also currently has a job teaching catholic sunday school at a local parish.
his friend was also there, and he's a "secular buddhist," so he also added insight.
simple enough right???
LOL. I definitely got some of the most interesting questions of my life! But although he was x10 more educated on arbitrary creed's and teachings of philosophy and theology-- I felt 100% confident in what I knew! There wasn't a question I couldn't answer, because we have the Spirit with us, and we have faith! Its pretty sad that people who don't have faith in anything. Bruce overthinks reality so much that he calls himself an absurdist in the sense that he's not even sure if God exists, but so much doubt that he's not even sure sometimes if he, himself exists! LIKE WAT!!!!!!! I'm so glad that I can just rely on faith, and not myself, but on Jesus Christ! Otherwise we are just torn to and fro, not knowing where to find truth. We can know so much about worldly knowledge (like really, he knows so much!) but it means nothing if we don't have the solid foundation of Christ!
Love you all and happy halloween!
